Apocalypse No

Why I’m not a doomer:

The narcissism of youth means you can’t see (as I couldn’t) that the “coming apocalypse” is you getting old in a stumbling, messy world where the greedy win – which appears to be unstable, but, however, is far more stable than you, you yourself and your tiny, evaporating bag-of-water body.

The real coming apocalypse is you getting, irrelevant, and unwanted.

Nothing else ever changes.

Another version of the same principle: the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.

  1. It’s good to see a post saying that you aren’t falling for the whole ‘end of the world is nigh’ spiel. I’ve not been on planet earth that long and there’ve been plenty of ‘end times’ scenarios that I’m aware of: Y2K, Nibiru/Planet X, Hale-Bopp, WW3, global warming, bird flus, colony collapse disorder (bees dying), peak oil, financial crashes, return of Jesus etc ad nauseum. All of the end times scenarios all seem to prey on peoples doubts and fears and them hit them with a mass of short-sightedness. You can see this because the believers are unable to see five, ten or fiteen years into the future. And that’s insidious: denying someone the ability to conceive of the future. People should only believe in ideas that allow them to ‘think’ about the future in a stress free way, doomerism doesn’t allow people that.

I see doomerism as a paralyzing force, usually. Instilling a sense of hopelessness. Instead of engaging with the world, doomers want to stock up their compounds with freeze-dried food. Don’t bother to get a STEM degree, the H1Bs have already won. “We’re in tear down mode.”

Yeah, I’ve lived through enough cycles of doomer porn I have started to notice the similarities. It’s just like a market cycle. Irrational exuberance gives way to utter despair, then the cycle repeats itself.

I really do see it as a form of mid-life crisis for a lot of men.

Yeah that’s true; some of the originators of the theories are in their 40s or 50s, so it could be the result of some psychological/character flaw in the person.

On a tangent, it’s frustrating that racially aware people with phds in psychology (like Kevin MacDonald) are focussing their efforts on logging the crimes of the Jews rather than coming up with solutions and remedies to help or cure white men of their mental maladies. There are enough people logging the crimes of the Jews already, yet there are precious few people coming up with cures to the diseases that afflict us.

  2. You are building a straw man out of doomerism. The doomerism I promote is that society is going to change radically (as it already has in my lifetime) and these radical changes will offer opportunities that we can take advantage of.

I disagree with the pessimism of Subway Masturbator. Things change so fast we can get ready for the changes and “make money when there’s blood in the streets.” Every savvy man can be a Rothschild now.

That was not directed at you, anticipating future trends and planning for them is not quite the same as doomerism. Mormons who keep a year’s supply of food are just being responsible. I’m surprised gas isn’t pushing $10 already. Warren Buffet said, “be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful,” which is another version of the Rothschilds quote.

    1. Maybe. The NWO is just one international faction, the elites of USA, Europe, and their Japanese junior partner. In recent times, they have used fronts like the Trilateral Commission, NAFTA/GATT, WB/IMF, NATO (of course) PNAC and whatever Obama’s pet international NGOs are. NWO might lose their power to another coalition, like Russia/China along with populist Latin American governments.

But even if the NWO power configuration falls, it’s not like some utopia is going to replace it. It will be another power configuration.

  3. Please do your homework:

The fact that most doomers are religious nuts and apocalyptic cranks who have been crying wolf for so long doesn’t mean that a real wolf is not coming:

    (1) Within this decade a sudden financial overture:

    (2) Afterwards, a very slow energy devolution that will probably unfold in a period of 50 to 100 years:

By the beginning 22nd century all will be over, and for good or worse our grandsons will live in an utterly unrecognizable world.
